YSN looks ahead with strategic plan
Yale School of Nursing launched its new 2026–31 strategic plan, Leading Nursing, Transforming Health and Health Care, this fall. Shaped by three years of listening and engagement with faculty, staff, students, alumni, healthcare partners, and community leaders, the plan outlines a shared vision for the future of nursing and YSN’s role in advancing health for all. Its priorities include prevention, wellness, innovation, collaboration, and meaningful impact. The school celebrated the launch with a community event in October.
How AI is changing the field of nursing
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape healthcare, Christine Rodriguez, assistant professor and associate dean of nursing impact at YSN, is exploring what these changes mean for nurses, educators, and patients. In a recent Yale News Q&A, Rodriguez discusses how AI can support nursing practice and education while emphasizing the enduring importance of human expertise, empathy, and connection in patient care. Her perspective highlights the essential role nurses will play in shaping how emerging technologies are integrated into healthcare.
Dean joins CUGH board of directors
Dean Azita Emami is serving on the board of directors of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH), an international organization that brings academic institutions and partners together to advance global health through education, research, service, and advocacy. Yale’s membership in CUGH is supported by the Yale Institute for Global Health, which participates in CUGH working groups and helps organize its annual conference. The dean’s leadership further strengthens opportunities for collaboration across YSN, Yale, and the global health community.
